Opportunity 2 - Scene

INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT

The BEAR carries PHIL up the stairs over his shoulder.

VOICE-OVER

Whisky in Gaelic means 'Water of life'. In our case this was quite literally true!

EXT. HOUSE GARDEN - NIGHT

A small old brass prima stove is lit. The BEAR, CHARLIE, JOHN and STEWART relax on some rugs with cushions. The BEAR shows STEWART the stars through his old telescope as they enjoy yarns and a dram.

THE BEAR Can you see up there, just around the plough?

STEWART Yeah.

THE BEAR That's Ursa Major - The Great Bear.

STEWART Oh... right.

Our attention turns to CHARLIE and JOHN.

CHARLIE So you think you could help me get it published?

JOHN From the legal aspect yeah.

The BEAR turns to CHARLIE.

THE BEAR It'll take ages to write!

VOICE-OVER

To germinate any seed you need water...

JOHN pours a two drams. He passes one to CHARLIE who is warming his hands by the stove.

VOICE-OVER (CONT'D)

...a bit of warmth, and above all else for it to be kept in the dark for just the right amount of time.

JOHN We can wait for that, but what about this for a starter?

INT. PHIL'S ROOM - DAY PHIL wakes up the following morning. He opens one eye at a time and breathes in.

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

PHIL ambles in. The BEAR, CHARLIE and JOHN are lying asleep in armchairs. He checks the near empty whisky bottle that STEWART is cuddling as he sleeps huddled on the floor and smiles at the sight.
